Gain the skills to handle real-world projects where you work!

The Advanced Certificate is a unique program developed with the UMD PM Staff to identify and develop specific coursework that best fits the needs and level of learning requirements of your organization. There is a broad array of academic coursework and research that can be leveraged to meet your requirements as well as other unique seminars that we will work with you to develop. You will be challenged by participating in a project simulation in which you will be required to apply you knowledge to the execution of a complex project. You will receive feedback from both your peers and the instructor on your project management behaviors. As a result, you will be able to transfer valuable skills to the work place with a real-life reference from the class. We have been extremely successful with leveraging our academic coursework and would be delighted to explore this Option with you and you Team.

The advanced certificate is intended for professionals that have between 10+ years of experience or are beginning to manage projects with high complexity and/or risk which are mission-critical to the organization, or lead multiple projects of simple to moderate complexity and risk. This certificate is the second level of three levels of certificates and builds on the information contained in the Associate Certificate.

Note that the Professional Development Program is only available to clients having 12 or more students. The courses are not available for individual open enrollment. Coursework can be provided in a number of venues including on-site and at the UMD facilities. Our Distance Education Technology and Services Classrooms as well as online learning provide unique alternatives to enhance the Project Management Learning experience.

All instruction is consistent with the Project Management Institutes PMBOK™ Guide. The student will acquire in depth skills on the implementation of more complex and sophisticated projects.

The A.J. Clark School of Engineering, University of Maryland, brings this certificate program to you through the use of lectures, exercises, sophisticated case studies, and classroom discussion. You will gain both practical knowledge that can be applied to current projects and basic knowledge that will aid in preparation for the PMI™ certification examination. We also offer a course specifically designed to prepare you for the PMP™ Examination sponsored by the Project Management Institute. Three 3 day classes are included in this certificate with each class earning 21 PDU’s or 2.1 CEU’s.
